Making a little one before you make it big.

When you make a small sculpture before you make a big one, you can eliminate any surprises that can cause difficulties when handling a large mass of clay.
But its possible to become so involved in your small clay sketch that you find yourself spending a lot of time on it, way too much time actually, when you thought you would be finished in an hour.
And then you realize you like the little one much better than the real sculpture. And that the cuteness of the thing can't be argued with!
